More Information about the Items
Item 3 – As the GSA is duly incorporated under the Companies Act, we need to present and approve of annual financial statements. The GSAs financial statements are a review, which is not as thorough (or expensive) as an audit. The financial statements up for approval this year are those covering the previous fiscal year, i.e., 2010-11.
The 2010-2011 GSA Financial Statements are available here.
Previous financial statements are available here.
Item 4 – The GSA Bylaws were revised and changed in 2009-10 but have proven to be problematic in some areas. This year’s executive is proposing Bylaws that will simplify some of the more complicated sections, and will better define the structure of the GSA. The Draft Bylaws will be made available next week. An open consultation on the Draft Bylaws will take place at the GSA House, 2030 Mackay, at 2:00pm on Monday 21 May and at 10:00am on Tuesday 22 May. Any resulting revisions to the Draft Bylaws will be made available on Wednesday 23 May.
The Draft Bylaws are available here.
Item 5 – the GSA fee was changed in 2010-11 to reflect the GSA’s withdrawal from the CFS. Fees that formerly were paid to the CFS and CFS-Q were folded in to the GSA fee, but that extra money was put into trust pending litigation with the CFS over the withdrawal. The measures adopted at the 2011 AGM expire as of the end of this fiscal year (31 May 2012), so we will bring a motion regarding what to do about the fee to the AGM.
