GSA Votes on “Whether to end Strike!!!!” at the General Assembly Wednesday June 6 at 4:30pm
The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body within the GSA. It sets policy for the Executive and Council of Directors and most importantly allows members to participate directly in the workings of your GSA. Members can propose motions from the floor, speak for or against a motion, and have their thoughts heard by other members. In keeping with their belief that more information and points of view makes for better decision making the Executive team is committed to making the General Assembly open and accessible to all. Members can always propose to add new items, or modify existing ones, before the adoption of the official agenda. There is a proposal to end the strike already tabled within the agenda.
After months and years of hard work by students to spread the word about the impact of the proposed tuition increases and with communities across Quebec rising up with pots and pans to denounce Loi 78, the government recently walked away from the negotiation table and are remaining steadfast in their intention to increase your tuition!
Will the GSA maintain their strike stance or choose to end the strike! Only you can decide and only by attending the End the Strike General Assembly June 6 at 4:30pm at the School of Community and Public Affairs on 2149 Mackay Street!
Here is a map. You are welcome.
You can find out more about the General Assembly including the proposed agenda here. We will also have several short video presentations and two special guests in attendance. Patrice Blais (pictured to the above left speaking with a Montreal Police Officer at a recent demonstration by lawyers against Loi 78), a Montreal lawyer and longtime community activist who will explain the potential impact of “Loi 78″ and the English cousin of the infamous Anarchopanda will make an appearance.
Please arrive on time so we can achieve quorum and start in on the discussions!
See you tomorrow and yes there will be food. Democracy makes for hungry people.
Your GSA Executive Team
