GSA is Hiring: Chief Returning Officer & Deputy Returning Officer

About the Positions:

The GSA is looking for dedicated individuals to serve as Chief Returning Officer & Deputy Returning Officer(s) (D.R.O.), for the upcoming GSA election to fill empty directors’ seats .

Chief Returning Officer (CRO)

The Chief Returning Officer has the following responsibilities:

  • The instruction and supervision of Deputy Returning officers (D.R.O.);
  • The instruction and supervision of other election-related employees as required;
  • Acceptance and verification of nomination papers from candidates;
  • Ensuring staff has appropriate resources during the election/referenda voting period;
  • The official tabulation of votes;
  • The presentation of a written, detailed report to the Council within seven (7) days of announcing the final winning candidates.

Deputy Returning Officer (DRO)

The Deputy Returning Officers have the following responsibilities:

  • Assisting the C.R.O. to oversee election logistics and voting procedures and carrying out the duties specifically designated by the C.R.O.;
  • Instructions and supervision of any polling clerks;
  • Assisting the C.R.O. in ensuring that the election adheres to GSA’s By-laws and election regulations;
  • Informing candidates about their rights and responsibilities during the elections;
  • Monitoring the campaigns of candidates, and ensuring that they adhere to GSA’s By-laws and election regulations;
  • Due to the election and campaigning being held online, punctual responses, and active monitoring of online activities to be carried out effectively.

Eligibility:

To be eligible to apply for this position, all candidates:

  • Should not have been a member of the G.S.A Governing Structure;
  • Should have previous experience of working in elections;
  • Should have strong communication skills;
  • Should have adequate knowledge of GSA bylaws;
  • Should have an attention to detail and skill to work under pressure;
  • Should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Should be able to understand policies and procedures and ensure compliance;
  • Should be ready to work completely online and have basic command over social media platforms.
